Gemma Moore, BA (Hons) M.F.A

Future Is Female (2021) displayed at Tate Britain, September 2022

Hosting Feminist Persona and Our Distraught System at The Courtyard in Hereford formed part of the art centre’s commemorations for International Women’s Day 2023. Thought-provoking and challenging, the exhibition and installation complemented each other with their juxtaposition in the foyer. At the same time, the Borderlines Film Festival was taking place, giving even more visibility to Gemma’s pieces and creating talking points for audiences attending The Courtyard. It was an exciting opportunity for the organisation, and it is hoped that Gemma will return again soon with more of her works.

“Art should be a tool, not a weapon. Not used for a vehicle to house the abuse of power, but a platform to exert feelings, thoughts, emotions, happiness or anxiety.”
